1996 NYC Marathon
1996 NYC Marathon
My first marathon - NYC, 1996. Four hours, fifty-one minutes. Tendonitis in my left knee the last mile. Such emotion crossing the finish line and officially becoming a marathoner!
1997 NYC Marathon
1997 NYC Marathon
1997, NYC. My fastest NYC marathon. 4:33:00 - on the dot. A flash flood from miles 17 to 21 made this one tough.
Rating: 5.00
1998 Walt Disney World Marathon

Hotel room after Disney 1999 marathon. Fun using a wheelchair after the race to cruise around the Magic Kingdom and go the front of every line!

1999, NYC. 4:35:41. My first year in costume. That's my mom and friend Karen, in Long Island City at mile 11, Long Island City.

2000 NYC Marathon.jpg
2000, NYC. 4:41-something. Rainbow bandana, pink feather boa, and Gods Love We Deliver logos all over my front & back of shirt.
2001 NYC Marathon.jpg
2001 NYC Marathon.jpg
2001, NYC. One of the city's first big events after 9/11. I'm wearing a leather chest harness - I'm sure bin Laden would have loved that.
2002 NYC Marathon.jpg
2002 NYC Marathon.jpg
2002, NYC. Yes, I ran the whole race this way - and my makeup looked perfect when I finished.
2003 ING NYC Marathon.jpg
2003 ING NYC Marathon.jpg
2003, NYC. 5:03-something. The costume was all nylon, and it was a 70 degree day. I improvised and used a house key to strategically rip holes in the costume to cool off. It saved my race. Funny: if you look behind me, someone else is dressed as Batman.

2004, NYC. My New York swan song. That's my great friend, Amy, behind me.
2009 Tel Aviv Marathon.JPG
2009 Tel Aviv Marathon.JPG
2009, Tel Aviv. I came out of retirement for this one. My friend Liron beautifully wrote out "Oleh Chadash (new immigrant) from New York," which we put on the back of my shirt, so people could cheer me on.
2012 Jerusalem Marathon
2012 Jerusalem Marathon
Jerusalem was very difficult: many hills and strong rainy & windy conditions. I finished 785th - out of 800 runners. Blog post about it: http://j.mp/ScottyPmarathon.
