Adele is once in a lifetime. Every track on her sophomore disc is listen-worthy. She defies labeling into any particular format. The second single from this record is the only straight piano ballad to top the Billboard Hot 100 in its history. It shot up twenty places in one week to take the top spot after being performed live on this year’s MTV’s VMA broadcast. Here’s a look at that performance:

Now you can comfortably play your 80′s nostalgia at your next dinner party without being busted for it. Seriously, Sheik chooses mostly new wave cuts, and his sparse arrangements and earnest vocals really highlight the original songrwriting. Very listenable.

Explosive! My personal song of the summer, 2011. This song is so danceable, it could make a lame man walk again. Bonus: it returned guest vocalist Christina Aguilera to the #1 slot on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time since 2001.
